SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 3, 1999--
Samsung is the First RDRAM(R) Manufacturer to Receive Intel Validation for its 64MB and 128MB RIMM(tm) Modules; Mass Production of RDRAM and RIMM Modules is Underway
Samsung Semiconductor Inc. today announced that its 64MB and 128MB RIMM modules have successfully passed Intel's RIMM Module Validation Test, making Samsung the first company in the industry to receive validation for its mass-produced RIMM samples. Samsung announced in April that it was the first RDRAM manufacturer to receive Intel validation for its 72M, 128M and 144M RDRAM components. These tests validate that Samsung can produce both components and modules that are fully compliant with the Rambus(R) specification. PC OEMs are starting full system-level qualifications. "We are definitely proud to be the frontrunner in the race for adoption of Rambus technology. The validations reinforce the industry's confidence in the Rambus program. We have started mass production to ensure volume deliveries in September to meet our customers' product launch dates," stated Avo Kanadjian, senior vice president of memory marketing at Samsung Semiconductor. "Samsung has once again demonstrated its leadership in technology development by delivering the industry*s first validated RIMM modules," said Subodh Toprani, vice president and general manager, Industry Enabling Division at Rambus Inc. (NASDAQ:RMBS). "With the ever-increasing availability of validated components, OEMs can be assured that their volume manufacturing needs will be met."
