Its hard to see any reason why established players cannot unseat the johnny-come-latelies in their fields. Barnes&Noble should be able to make up for lost ground with Amazon. Toys R Us will eventually once again overshadow eToys. Merrill Lynch's dominance over ETrade & Ameritrade will become apparent. The upstarts are simply using new ways of doing things, and, when that proves successful, the big guys will use the technology too.
