No mystery...

The 144 is the intent to sell. What we are seeing is probably the result of those shares being unloaded...although I hope not. Selling at this time before the announcement of the next generation could indicate of lack confidence.

The tier1 OEM deals suck so far. They are options in limited PC lines. Gateway is a big disappointment since the deal appears to be nowhere near the levels of the Banshee one. So far, the Voodoo3 OEM deals appear to be overstated. Then again, so was Banshee.

The wide motherboard acceptance for Voodoo3 is great. We may have a chance of kicking out a few of those old ATI motherboard deals with the Voodoo3, so I will wait until the end of this month on the final judgement for Voodoo3 OEM's. I'm glad that 3dfx estimated a low revenue number for this quarter though. The only shining star I see is the fact that the 3500TV should ship in July. I'm hoping volume because it looks like the 3500TV may outsell even the 3000.

Like everyone else, I'm waiting to see if 3dfx can pull off the next miracle. Given Sharky's recent posting on the NV10 (1.5 gigatexel by October?) 3dfx doesn't have any room to wiggle. I must admit to being VERY skeptical about NVIDIA being able to achieve those kinds of fill rates and throw in on-board geometry by October. They were able to make the general leap from the 128 to TNT very quickly, so I suppose they may be able to do it again. Unfortanately, we haven't seen a real generational leap from 3dfx, just incremental ones and even then they haven't been very "timely".
