Mohan - That is the worst piece of writing that I have seen from Rushdie. He has made sure that he chides both India and Pakistan so as to not be looked upon as supporeting one over the other. Then he takes his begging bowl asking both (or perhaps the world body) to free Kashmir from both. That is a wish list thats not going to come true. Unless Pakistan decides that it is going to stay on its side of the dividing line and not interfere, directly or indirectly, with India AND the Indian portion of Kashmir, then the problems in Kashmir will continue. of course India could reverse the Nehru legacy and permit ANY Indian to own property in Kashmir. That would bring about prosperity in that region so fast it would make every persons haead spin. And then the Kashmiris will be happy and content and even the infiltrators will be controlled. ratan
