SUN MICROSYSTEMS: Five major global systems integrators join new Sun-Netscape Alliance
MAY 6, 1999, M2 Communications - NEW YORK -- The Sun-Netscape Alliance (Alliance) today announced its Preferred Integrators initiative, an innovative effort with Global Systems Integrators (GSIs) to help companies gain a competitive advantage in the Net Economy with the Alliance's powerful portfolio of e-commerce offerings.
The goal of the initiative, unveiled during Sun's ServiceProvider.comSM event in New York City, is to train nearly 35,000 consultants during the next three years to successfully "dot-com" businesses.
"The key to success in today's Net Economy is a broad set of products that deploy and scale quickly, high quality services and worldwide community of expertise to assist companies in building and growing
successful Web businesses," said Mark Tolliver, president of the Alliance. "This initiative is a milestone in terms of wide industry support for our product portfolio."
Initial Preferred Integrators include:
* Andersen Consulting, the largest global management and technology consulting organization, which plans to train up to 10,000 consultants on the Alliance portfolio of products over the next three years.
* Cap Gemini, one of the world's largest systems integration and management consultancies and the largest such company in Europe, also announced that it will train 4,500 consultants over the next three
years in Internet-related Services.
* Computer Sciences Corp., a major management and information technology consulting firm to commercial and government markets, which plans to train up to 2,000 consultants.
* EDS, a leader in the global information services industry for more than 35 years, which will train up to 7,000 consultants.
* PricewaterhouseCoopers, the world's largest professional services firm, which plans to train up to 10,000 consultants.
In addition to training, the Preferred Integrators initiative could include technical support, technology sharing and joint marketing and co-development of solutions for vertical markets. The initiative is
designed to help customers get the shortest time-to-market with the Alliance's portfolio of products.
The portfolio of products offered through the Alliance is built to deploy and scale quickly. Today's competitive companies can't afford to waste precious time and money cobbling together different point
solutions from different vendors. The Alliance's Preferred Integrators will help customers rapidly implement the comprehensive e-commerce they demand.
