*OT Kidneys for sale* That's odd, a couple of days ago, a woman in New Zealand decided to sell a kidney for financial reasons. She's been on tv and heavily publicized. Apparently it's legal in NZ, though I think finding a surgeon might be tricky. Another guy offered money for a kidney a couple of years ago as he figured that it would prompt donors.

The SI response to the SI request was infantile and nasty. Sure, it's easy to see how abuses could occur, but unless somebody is allowed to sell, it makes life impossible for people on dialysis who could otherwise stay alive and live a good life. Donations would be nice, but let's face it, who's going to hand over a kidney to somebody they don't know. Family and friends maybe, but there are tissue typing problems limiting that.

Doctors are happy to mess with people's bodies for cash, which introduces automatic conflicts of interest. I don't see why selling a spare kidney is such a big deal, [other than the squeamishness which I'm very subject to]. It's their body!

It seems that kidneys are a free trade zone in NZ. Hmmmm, anyone wants a kidney, put an ad in a NZ paper. Anyone got one to sell, do the same. In fact, I better make a Web site for matching buyers/sellers and tissues! I'll take a cut [well, a percentage].

Implants of cdma2000 devices will be all the rage in a few years. I'll arrange those too. Then it will be really handsfree, with a cute little cochlear implant.
