Glen -- I'd like to believe that the FDA is as humanitarian and forward-thinking as your rationale for the 30% efficaciousness suggests, and your reasoning certainly is correct; however, my guess is that they have been under some (in)direct pressure to get a vaccine out there. There's been a low-level buzz about AIDSVAX for a while and it certainly has penetrated all levels of the medical and political world. I'm speculating, but I can just see the vaccine panel at the FDA looking around the table and saying "What's a level they can't miss?" Not that I believe the vaccine is only 30% effective. Adding the second antigen (and working on a third)makes the prospects greater than that. When the FDA first looked at this vaccine, it was univalent. Anyway, I've given up guessing where stocks are going to go; I'm not sure it matters with this issue because it's a vaccine for AIDS and sooner or later the light bulb will go on in the public mind; And we will be standing there holding a piece of history -- as well as the greatest investment we ever made.
