Twenty-four are held in 'brutal' beating
Neo-Nazi Thugs Attack U.S. Soldier in Bavaria

Bonn (October 8, 1998) -- German neo-Nazi skinheads have stepped up their campaign of hate and fear with a new wave of attacks, one of them a 21-year-old U.S. soldier stationed in Germany. In what was described as a "brutal" onslaught, the soldier was beaten on his head, on his face and "all over his body" by a gang of 24 neo-Nazis.

Federal para-military border police said the attack occurred on a Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB) train in Bavaria. When the train arrived in Munich, police said they detained 24 suspects, ranging in age from 17 to 20. Authorities said blood was visible on the clothing of some of the suspects.
