Applied Innovation Introduces New Software To Simplify Universal Access to Network Elements
NEWEB Provides Secure Access to Network Elements From Any OSS!
DUBLIN, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 4, 1999--Applied Innovation Inc. will be demonstrating NEWEB, which gives technicians direct access via their PCs or workstations to remote network elements, at Booth no. 6453 during SuperCOMM, June 6-10, it was announced today by Gerard B. Moersdorf Jr, president and CEO. Applied Innovation Inc. is listed as AINN on the NASDAQ exchange.

Using a Windows-based NT Server Platform, NEWEB provides users with a simple and intuitive way to locate and connect with specific network elements via a pull-down menu interface. Utilizing a powerful search mechanism, NEWEB enables quick access to network elements by searching for SCID, manufacturer, model, TID, CLLI codes as well as anything else the user creates in the NEWEB database. Easily customized hierarchical maps allow the user to ''point and click'' from a broad geographic area down to a specific network element.

''NEWEB operates like a Web browser and offers ''point and click'' connectivity for telecommunications service providers to any network element in their network,'' said Moersdorf. ''Because of this software, technicians will experience an increase in productivity because they do not have to spend as much time in the field on service calls that aren't necessary, reducing the long-standing problem of 'windshield time'.''

NEWEB also enables users to diagnose and repair faults in less time and shortens the learning curve for network element provisioning and troubleshooting. While NEWEB offers a multi-level security system that requires a password and user names, properly authorized users can easily add new network elements and customize the menu commands to meet their specific needs.

''We designed NEWEB to be extremely flexible because we realize that our customers would need multiple levels of administrative access,'' said Steve Covey, director, research and development. ''One user may be granted access to a single equipment type within that person's city, while a different user can be granted full access to everything in a nationwide network.''

NEWEB is currently being field tested by three of the five RBOCs. Applied Innovation offers complete turnkey planning, installation and setup for NEWEB.

Headquartered in Dublin, Ohio, Applied Innovation is the leading provider of mediation products that enable communications between network elements and operations support systems for the management of telecommunication carriers' networks. Applied Innovation's products provide communications and interoperability for more than 100,000 network elements within many of the world's largest and fastest-growing telecommunications service providers.
