HI Jimmy,

Caught some of the talk on RB about record company or internet company....

I think people are just saying that it's all about .com for the irrational exuhberance....Thing is these co.'s general don't make money and that's all well and good but this is why I can see gnen being succesful in the internet because they are more than that....

The soundtracks and gaming music are REAL money..

<<<<<<<<Already on the board for 1999 are eight rock and three soundtrack releases including the feature film, Spooky House with Ben Kingsley and Mercedes Ruehl (October), VR1's Internet games Crossroads (October) and the highly touted Nomads of Klanth (Summer 1999). A truly multi-media experience, the music for this soundtrack created by M3 band Nihil features screen savers, gamer tips, and more. ***Other film music placements for M3 acts include Strangeland and the upcoming Universal Soldier Returns for Clay People, and Red Team (Regency Entertainment) and Carrie 2 The Rage for 16**** Volt>>>>>>>>>>***Note the OTHER film placements***

Lot's of stuff going on also the studio is probably being rented out with the soundman....However I haven't confirmed that...

BTW.....Holiday movies like Spooky house could become classics either way any of our bands on a sountrack is a GREAT way to propmote acts...

Like any record label they WILL make money from there artists....Most record companies make tons at the artists expense...Nature of the beast...Good for us.

They protect there own profits from sales by making artists responsible for promo expenses often leaving the artist in debt unless thay make it big...

Another trick is contracts including that artists do "X" number of songs owned by the company(written by someone else) The company gets a greater percentage this way...

What I'm saying is that record companies DO make money and these guys have taken there time with the website it's the end result that will count...I keep seeing CDNow commercials and thinking "yeah us too!"

Using Amazon's inventory is a good way to go this is turning out to be Amazons beast of burden as I understand it but they can afford it(VBG)The cash flow from this could amount to simple gravy it's our artists sales and other revenues that will ensure the website is all it could be IMO

Anyway,
Go GNEN!
BTW Does anyone how the meeting with sony went? If we can get Playstation gigs it could be the biggest money maker for all gnen divisions..

Best Regards,
FP
