Hyundai Electronics Sees Rising Exports of Mobile Phone
Handsets

June 4, 1999 (SEOUL) -- Hyundai Electronics Industries Co., Ltd. said May 31 that it
will supply an additional 1 million mobile phone handsets in the latter half of this year.

The company made the statement following a deal it recently closed with U.S.-based
Prime Co. to ship 500,000 CDMA-type handsets.

Hyundai beat out Lucent Technologies Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. to win
an order from Australia's Telstra Corp. for 100,000 handsets, a Hyundai official said.

The company will ship an additional 300,000 handsets to Venezuela's Telcel and
100,000 handsets to Brazil's TeleRJ.

Hyundai will ship a total of 2 million CDMA handsets in 1999, amounting to sales of
US$420 million.

"We attribute our rising exports to the expanding demand for CDMA handsets," a
Hyundai official said.
