Thomas Rasch--Wow, what a comment: "And I suppose you think ETrade is a better long term investment than Merrill? What is the p/e of EGRP? Look at the long term track record of any issue trading above 50, going back to the 70's. Very few could be considered choice investments."
Yeah, I think EGRP is a MUCH better long-term investment than Merrill, as a matter of fact, and I believe that's the case because it (and other online brokers like AMTD, etc.) represents a new paradigm, one that is completely irrelevant to a comparison with the 70's. If you're using P/E as a screen for internet stocks, then you must be completely baffled at what has happened in the last 2-3 years! The market, in your eyes, must have gone completely mad! Sure, there are internet companies that aren't going to make it, but the internet is going to change the way we do business in this country (already is, for that matter), which is why stocks like EGRP, AOL, AMTD, AMZN, etc. have exploded. And will, in my opinion anyway, continue to do very well (although not necessarily at the same exponential rate as in the past six months, at least in the case of EGRP). |
