More confirmation that Rockwell/Ascend trail by months...

This was posted to the newsgroup at my Ascend based ISP:

... Actually we had a modem card die, and had to busy out a trunk while we
replaced the bad card as well as having a trunk failure. We were down
46 or so lines for a couple of hours. Replaced the modem card with one
out of spares and swb got the line dried out and everything was back
to normal at about 8 am. The 33.6 code is finally stable enough to
release to the main dial ups and has been in for a couple of days. 56k
should be out in a few months though probably on a different number
for a while until some standards are reached.

Ascend is just now getting 33.6 code to work. Sheeesh! And, a few months until 56k! These guys at Insync, notwithstanding the fact that they use Ascend Maxen, know their stuff. They were rated #6 nationally in a survey of Internet dialup users. If they are saying a few months, it will be a few months.
