All I can say is that anyone buying or selling AOL (or ATHM) on the basis of court rulings is nuts. AOL could do a much better job of defining its business strategy for broadband, but they do have a lot of irons in the fire, including wireless, DSL, and satellite. And cable is not out of the question, by far. ATHM has the inside track on cable for now, but anyone would be nuts to think the courts would let T regain a monopoly through cable, after they were broken up for creating a monopoly with copper lines. That is like letting OJ become a marriage counselor in Pasadena instead of Burbank. There may be a lot of turf battles over the next few years, and AOL and ATHM/T might win some, lose some, but in the end these two companies will be the leaders, IMO. Well, AOL will, ATHM still has a lot of proving to do. |
