Actually it's quite misleading. Another example of lies, damn lies, and statistics. The city itself has a dwindling population of around 600K, while the surrounding metropolitan area is +2M. So the statistics reflect crime within the city limits. Even within the city the crime is concentrated in approximately a 13 block are on the N. side. But it sure doesn't do much for the ole tourist trade! bp
