Your point is well-taken. I'll plead "nolo contendere" to having been insensitive.

I realize that de gustibus is a Greyhound with broken windows. What I'd posted was imho not on a par with the sort of outright predatory joke you so neatly paraphrased. I can accept that it can be unfunny. But telling me that <reference deleted> was suppressing the urge to tell me to go f*** myself is effectively telling me just that. And I do feel that repaying clumsy but good-willed insensitivity with that level of attack is out of balance. It could, should, have been fixed and fixed right far cheaper.
