The ruling makes sense - else it would be like the baby Bells saying we own the wires going into the homes so no one else can provide Internet Service but us. WOuld we ever buy that? Not a chance. Similarly, if we are talking Internet access via cable, it would be unfair for the ATT controlled company ATHM to be the only one offering Internet connectivity. We are not talking about cable access here folks (which each cable operator has a monopoly in a given area), rather we are talking about Inet connectivity via cable. As a consumer, it makes sense to me. The consumer needs to have a right to choose who the Inet provider should be. If my baby Bell says tomorrow that I can only have Inet connection via them and not AOL, I would revolt. God bless America and the concept of free trade, open markets and capitalism.
