Yes, much faster in terms of absolute numbers. It is also projected to continue this.

Percent growth is lower, however, because of the huge disparity in the base numbers. Absolute number growth is the figure to use.

I'd propose that a 100-200 kbps connection (DSL-UltraLite?) for maybe $24 per month would be a huge subscriber booster. With that target, the total available market just became huge. It will even allow those hampered by a DLC at their loop to play. That speed would be a very noticeable improvement over V.90, and on average barely slower than most cable modem connections for mostly html page loads. (large ftp downloads is a different story but that's not a mainstream application). Sometimes you've gotta throw a few little stepping stones out to cross the chasm.

The high bandwidth content will just have to wait, or at least continue at its current snails pace. What good is high bandwidth content with just a million or 2 users?
