Pig roasts sound great. I make a good pork sirloin roast with slivers of garlic inserted throughout the top. My wife adds pistachios, which are very good, but I usually don't bother, instead using more garlic than she does...Sometimes you find great food in the unlikeliest places. The best New York- style pizza I ever had was in a hole in the wall near Georgetown University. In Kansas City, there was a cook called Chicken Betty who was reputed to make the best fried chicken in the metro area, but who got into frequent beefs with her employers, so people would follow her from municipal airport counters to K- Marts to drugstores, etc. And the best matzah ball soup I have ever had, hands down, is in a back- of- the- store restaurant in a deli in Silver Spring,MD, just outside of D.C....In fact, it is the best chicken soup I have ever had... |
