Well, when the "chips" are down... <ggg>. Interesting discussions, Mohan and Arthur. Nice segue on the flipping from fritos to pcs. And, in a way, it seems like an interesting fit.... From the point of view of -1- can the guy rally a team (good strategies + good interpersonal dynamics go a long way towards compensating for lack of industry-specific knowledge) -2- distribution outside the US. In a word, connections, connections, connections. Worldwide Ops embraces a lot of stuff with import/export regulations, brokers, etc.. where your pal at the freight forwarder is a serious asset to steady sailing. And if Allen was instrumental in getting mfg. quality significantly improved at FritoLay, then that's a profit booster. Or good preventative maintenance. (Right the first time is a great notion) -3- And let's look at Scott's recent post with the % of US Households that have PCs. Probably same % of households have had potato chips in a one-month period.
All spoken in a fit of jest, but as Arthur points out, Jobs erred in selecting Sculley; MSD was surely involved with Allen's appointment at Dell... and... well.. we'll see......And actually, I'm craving a potato chip. I think I'll log off the computer and get some pretzels.
<ggg --- welcome home, Arthur!>> kathy
