So, o/l saves you both time and money, hence is more efficient from a consumer
perspective. Looking back, over the last year I probably did 80% of retail shopping o/l.

BGR,

I do not know what you do for a living but to many people time is not an issue. They have too much time.I live in a mall and a shopping strip center due to my businesses and I know this from experience.

I am like you. I am very busy and time means a lot to me. I like the online buying for many items for that reason.

I want to point something else out. The majority of people are not that price conscious on commodity items within reason. They act like they are, they state they are but they are not.

Finally, you missed one of my points. Online shopping will cost more not less once the online retail stores decide to turn profits. The fulfillment is the problem and people are doing that for free in brick and mortar stores. This is a large part of the expense in commodity items. You may find online prices presently lower than brick and mortar but you will also find onle sellers losing money. The convenience of home delivery will cost more not less in the long run.

Those willing to pay for the convenience will shop online. I fit that category. Let's give this time and see what happens in say two to three years and see if my prediction is accurate.

My prediction in summation is online retail e-commerce will be successful. It will always be a minority of the merchandise sold in almost every product line. It will cost more not less than brick and mortar in almost every product line. Online shopping will have the advantage of a larger selection and the convenience of not going to a shopping center. Those in the upper middle income and higher will shop online.

Glenn
