ALL, here we go.

Deadly "superbugs" plague Canada's hospitals.

Tell me that's not a panic-causing headline? Actually it showed up on the front page of the Globe and Mail this morning.

Big article! A two-page spread essentially saying we're losing the battle to kill superbugs. Nothing we don't already know.

They mention a vaccine that seems to work on other animals. Other - they say they can't eradicate the stupid bugs. Is this a job for 226 or what?

The last comments in the article were made by Dr. Jim Hutchison, a microbiologist, "It is not uncommon for me to be faced with a patient who has bacteria so resistant that we're down to no drugs for him.
We're left calling drug companies and the Health Protection Branch to release some compound that's not even on the market."

That last comment begs a series of articles on "solutions." The Globe and Mail has decided we're on the brink of an epidemic and now the general population knows it.

By the way the National Post was first to release and print "superbug" articles for the public. Has the Globe and Mail decided to outscoop the Post? Probably. Making it to the front page is a very tough decision for any newspaper. They have a plan! On Monday, they are printing an article on Denmark's solution to the superbugs. To follow, articles on what is Canada's solution to the superbugs????

Many times I am amazed at what the media prints. They can make a mole-hill into a mountain. Nothing is a problem until the media tells us it is! That front-page title is going to sell a lot of papers today and Monday and ....

Anyways, this may be the way that MBI is going to be "discovered." A "solution to superbugs" discovered in our own backyard? How Canadian, eh?

It may be very fine for MBI shareholders next week. It depends on how much MBI is prepared for the attention. Can their drug candidates stand up and work as well as we've been told they do? We all know 226 works but what about the enhancins? Where are they in this media-driven "epidemic" that looks like we are about to begin to witness?

Am I over-reacting to that one article? Sensationalism sells! The Globe and Mail started it, I'm just pointing out what I think is going to spread throughout North American media. Watch the National Post's reaction next week.

Anybody else got some comments out there?

Thanks.

Carter B.
