Well, I'll confide a little trick I've learned about a few of the stocks that have been posted on this great thread. First, I rarely buy on impulse. I do try and do some DD before I buy. If the price runs away from me, so be it. I can usually buy it in a few days or a week for the same price, usually less. If the story or the business plan is still there, I do. I disagree that all the stocks you buy are crap. (i.e. CRGI, WLGS and LAKO to name a few). I realize this is your humble way of minimizing what you do, but the bottom line is you guys often make fantastic picks. I can't count how many great picks you guys have come across. Another factor I have learned is that MM manipulation plays a big part of the price in BBs. I watch what they do all day, and it never ceases to amaze me. No one has any control over this. You have to be nimble with BBs, and have a limit order in to sell when it makes a run. If your broker doesn't allow this - then get another broker. Most of the stocks I have followed here have pretty wild price swings.
While I consider myself to be an avid learner here, I have to admit I am timid to post. The responses can often be brutal, and that is probably why there are a lot more lurkers than posters. A lot of your average posters are afraid of being publicly ridiculed if their "pick" has some dirty laundry they're not aware of, or if they are perceived as hypists.
The bottom line is that each and every person who buys or sells a stock has to take responsibility for their own actions. If Kimberly posts on her thread that she bought something at 2, and it's already up to 2 1/2, then I pass. God Bless her amazing skill. She's usually happy with that profit, and is selling at 2 1/2. If I buy something and it goes down, it is my own fault if I didn't get out with a minimal loss. Patience usually affords me the opportunity to at least break even.
The internet is a huge source of information, but you'd better do your homework if you plan on holding what you buy for more than a few minutes. Take the wonderful people who you've found and honored with a "bookmark", and learn from them. I have this thread bookmarked because I enjoy penny stocks, but I wouldn't buy them if I couldn't babysit them all day. They're too volatile.
And, lastly, I don't know that I consider you guys stock "gurus". Somehow I reserve that title for the guys that know they've found a great company with huge growth potential that is undervalued. You have never represented yourself that way.
I really like this thread and the people on it. Hopefully everyone who watches will learn and (eventually) prosper.
Have a great weekend -
