I also assume this was part of the Soros deal. Let's see, Loral was offering to buy at 100$/PI, and reselling half the equivalent amount of GSTRF shares to Soros. Vod and the other partners participating were realizing a nice capital gain, because according to the '95 prospectus they paid 12.5$/PI. But half their proceeds were to be escrowed for expenditures on handsets and gateways. That money should start flowing back into G* soon, if not already.
