Josh, Since the majority of pc makers have a net profit margin of less than 5 pct., I wouldn't be too sure about their ability to eat a 3 pct. price increase. Especially at a time of weak sales growth.

Also, I think your 3 pct. is based upon a $6 DRAM price and 16 MB of DRAM. I don't believe them, but the boxmakers claim that the only thing selling is business pcs with a minimum of 32 MB. So, I think the impact may be more than you calculate. DRAM was THE most expensive part of the pc at the manic top in 1995.

I don't believe Samsung is serious and I also don't believe they can hold the line even if they want to. Now that Commerce has cleared
LGS and Hyundai of dumping charges filed by crybaby Micron, I expect both to go back to challenging Samsung's market share, probably in April after the fiscal year ends. Hyundai already claims they are equal to Samsung in production and if big Sammie gives up share, expect Hyundai to kick them while they are down.
