Bashing them is going to make them worse not better. When the rest of the world thinks they can take pot shots at you with impunity it can make you a bit paranoid. Based on your response to lawyer jokes I would think you would understand that. Lots of things aren't funny, or are funny but are somewhat cruel- actually there is quite a bit of cruelty in most humor- maybe it shows our true human nature, to form groups, to identify by group, and to mock by group.
