Lots of my friends also believe that's one of the reasons that AOL can still charge people ridiculous price for ISP. Lots of people have no clue or don't want the trouble of changing an email address...yet from my personal experience, this issue is easy and can be solved in less than hour if you, say, have 50-100 friends that you want to keep on you email list.

This is the US tradition, I guess? I will repeat again that if AOL were in China, it would be out of business within a month.
