Batman=sucks; Birdcage=can buy it for $9.99 at Safeway; Bladerunner=got it on VHS and Laserdisc, now they want me to spend $24.99 to buy it on DVD -- yeah right; Bodyguard=Kevin Costner's worst acting performance, but it's a good chick movie, that's why I bought it on VHS; Bonnie and Clyde=heard of it; Dracula=sucks, Cable Guy=sucks, Color Purple=see Bladerunner; Eraser, rented it already; First Knight=saw it on HBO; Four Weddings=see Birdcage.

Why would I buy a DVD player and BUY movies that don't even make use of the features my DVD player has to offer???????????????????????????
Yeah Dude, I heard the special effects in the The Color Purple rock!

The Wizard of Oz, now there's a GOOD MOVIE. Hey, you're right, I'll go buy a DVD now own the 1 movie that's cool. Oops, I forgot, I see it on the TV everyweek and my I bought it for my sister already.

Please inform me when some GOOD MOVIES come out. I ain't gonna be buying a DVD player until I CAN RENT THE MOVIES FROM BLOCKBUSTER!!!!!!

What is wrong with you people? Do you own DAT's and MiniDisc's too???

I have yet to see some common sense on this thread. Do you know how pissed the average consumer is that the format is changing yet again??

I own a THX receiver and all of as sudden AC3 comes out. I own a CD player and all of a sudden you want me to buy MiniDisc? I own a nice Sony VHS and a Pioneer Laserdisc and all of a sudden you want me to buy a DVD?

*&%(*&%*&% you!!!!

Fine, why don't you go buy one RIGHT NOW. Even better, buy it this summer. Even better buy it in October. Me, my friends, my family friends, my professors, and every normal person will wait to buy a DVD player when we can RENT the latest movies at Blockbuster. At that time, the DVD players will defintely be CHEAPER AND BETTER.

As far a Japan, last time I checked 1% growth wasn't too stellar. I still think that sales will be good there, but you're looking at the tip of the iceberg.

I am not saying that DVD won't be hot, it will be. But you're jumping the gun way too early. By the time sales acutally pick up, there will be plenty of competition on both the chip and player side. Mark my words, people have been waiting to enter this market for years.
