CUST CustomTracks BIGGER DATA FASTER will beat out VRSN, Re-read WSJ:

Tom I loved the Wall Street Journal article so much I printed it out on paper, one needs to re-read it, and read between the lines.

THE FACT IT WAS PRINTED PROVES CUSTOMTRACKS IS THREAT TO VERISIGN!

Verisign is stuck (At lots of money) in old slow computers and computers that can only send shorter data lengths of info (Bit Strings) than the new CustomTracks imbedded digital signatures can.

Here is why:

compare old computers (10 years old) 80080 chips 8 bit with Pentiums:

SPEED:
<1MHz= 1 Megahertz = 1 Million instructions(Commands) per second
whereas:
Pentiums Chips for eg. 500 MHz = 500 Million instructions per second

DATA BIT SIZES:
(2KB = 2 KiloBytes= 2,000 bytes (8 Bits per Bytes)
it takes 8 Bits to = 1 Byte, 1 Byte = 1 character,
2000 Bytes (Characters = 1 type page more or less)

Computer chips: 80080, 80086, 80186, 80286, 80386(First Multi-Task)
Multi-task means it can run several Applications or Windows open at a time, that is the bases of modern Windows operating system programs,
the Chip is like a card dealer, it need to be able to quickly deal cards to more than one player (Program or User if a network server)
The size of info on each card depends on the BIT structure of the chip also.

80486, 80586 really we now just say Pentiums hereafter,
Pentium I, Pentium II, Pentium III

the difference is, that computers deal in 0's and 1's, this is a numbering system called base 2 or BINARY,
it really gets to be 2 multiplied by 2 multiplied by 2= 2x2x2 = 8
that is in exponential terms 2 to the 3rd power 2^3
The characters on your screen are based on ASCI/ANSI characters
of 8 bits or Bytes, so the numbering really is base 8, not base 10 our human numbering system of 0-9, 10-19, 20-29 etc.

If the chip or server can send info out in bigger blocks,
like dealing cards with more info on each card, its is QUICKER

2^3=8^1 = 8
2^4= 80486 = 16 or older 16 bit archecture, most digital signatures
.................are only this long, being written in this older

.................programming structure

2^5= 80586 = 32 This is called 32 bit archetecture, software witten

.................like this is fast, most programs today are

.................16 or 32 bit

2^6= 8^2 = 64

2^7= = 128

2^8= 8^3 = 256 For example the original ASCI character chart
.................consists of is 256, here each is "accounted for"

.................tremendous speed and more info on each card, each time the dealer (CHIP OR SERVER computer on a netword, serve or deals out data "a card' to each player or user or "client" on a network.

2^9 = 512
2^10= 1024 The Future is FASTER CHIPS ARE BETTER

When you make a purchase, you want it quick, you want i now, the seller (merchants) need to know stuff, who you are, what you bought, the price, quantity, your credit card number etc., this allows it to be done ALL AT ONCE, quicker and faster. That is CUSTOMTRACKS new peatent pending software structure for digital signatures.

It is too bad that Verisign and the others spent a lot of money on slower computers, but more important than that, their software is written in the coded style or structure that only accepts shorter strings of data (Smaller sentences, smaller words, less info). How long will it be before the merchants go with the imbedded CustomTracks software? Probably pretty fast, since any slwo down or inefficiency turns away internet customers...its really that simple.

Now re-read the followin portions of tha Wall Street Journal article:

....."Analysts say that Verisign has already made a significant impact in the e-commerce field. The top 40 e-commerce sites are Verisign customers, as are more than 400 of the largest companies that are on the Internet, says John Puricelli, an analyst at A.G. Edwards in St. Louis. "It took Verisign four years of diligent effort to get to this point. They spent over $75 million on their computer room alone," he says. "Verisign issues [digital] certificates and then supports them 24 hours a day, seven days a week. ... It's not an easy thing to get into."

I READ THIS: THEY ARE STUCK! It will take them 4 moer years to re-write that code, and they will need to buy more computers to keep up, they painted themselves in a corner, that is expensive to undo, the 40 and 400 customers can switch to CustomTracks tomorrow unless they have contracts that keep them locked in and UNHAPPY, then what?

....."Digital certificates are electronic identification tools that help ensure that consumers' orders -- and credit-card numbers -- reach the intended online merchant, Amazon.com, for instance, and not a phony site pretending to be Amazon."

NOTE THAT AMAZON HAS A NEW "ONE CLICK" BASKET, CustomTracks fits into this thinking beter than Verisign does, CustomTracks is what they are all trying to "BUILD" from the outdated digital signature scheme.

....."Analysts say the vast majority of browsers today are compatible with Verisign's digital certificates, and they say newcomers to the security business will have a hard time usurping Verisign's relationships with browser developers. "Even if [CustomTracks] were able to get into the browsers, there are millions of computers out there that already have the older authorities in them," says David Zale, an analyst at Sand Brothers in New York. CustomTracks also "would have to initiate relationships [with merchants] so they could have their certificates imbedded," he says."

ISN'T THIS HOW BILL GATES ALMOST MISSED THE NETSCAPE BROWSER WARS?

....."For his part, Stratton Sclavos, the chief executive of Verisign, doesn't feel threatened. "It's highly unlikely that something can come out of the blue with an unproven technology and infrastructure and with no brand recognition" to challenge Verisign, he says. Mr. Sclavos says he hadn't heard of CustomTracks until the Joseph Charles report was released."

ISN'T THIS HOW BILL GATES ALMOST MISSED THE NETSCAPE BROWSER WARS?

....."Still, Mr. Weinstein, of Joseph Charles, isn't discouraged. He believes CustomTracks can match Verisign's position because the market for Internet security products is far from saturated. Analysts estimate that there is a market for 12 million digital certificates today and that Verisign has issued more than 125,000 so far to e-commerce businesses. "They only own 1% of the market; 99% of the market is untapped, so entry is not difficult," Mr. Weinstein says."

SOUNDS LIKE VERISIGN EXPECTED CUSTOMERS TO RUN TO THEM, LAZY, LAZY,
What's that saying..."There are the QUICK AND THE DEAD".

....."Moreover, Mr. Weinstein maintains that the CustomTracks system will be superior because credit card and other personal information will be stored on CustomTracks servers, instead of with a merchant's server."

THE ONE THING STOPING THE INTERNET IS PRIVACY PARANOIA, FEARS, ANXIETY
If this is all CustomTracks did, that is, allow you to keep most of your info on your own computer, rather than TRUSTING a Verisign Computer Database, I think I know which digital certificate I would choose, call be paranoid, but I still see CUST a great buy past $90,
at $45 its a steal. And this is only short term because of CFO troubles, once a new CFO is chosen and on board, they will be back on track, CustomTrack (Excuse the pun) and that will be soon, but then the stock will no longer be a buyers bargain. I am in it long, which is unusual for me, but it beat paying $90 for a mover and shaker with a bright future ahead of it in E-Commerce.
I am,
Truly yours,
-Crystal ball
