I know that Christmas is the big time of year. However, aren't we thinking about global markets? The whole world does not target for Christmas. There is the Chinese New Year, etc., etc.. Christmas has meaning here but this is only one market and Europe doesn't engage in the same feeding frenzy to the extent that we do. The point is that new products are introduced all through the year. For example, according to the article in Wireless Weekly, Samsung introduced their cell phone and started shipping at the end of May.
