Hi Peter,

Congratulations, you seem to be one of the few people on earth that realizes there is a problem with the published P/E numbers. And, the problem may be even more complex than you have indicated.

There is the question of what did you know and when did you know it? For example, after a quarter is over, all we know is the trailing PREVIOUS quarter numbers until the earnings are announced a few weeks later. And, guess what? These are the exact same few weeks when highs and lows for the year are likely to occur.

So, if you want to know the facts, you have find out for yourself. This is hard, boring work and is why so few people know the right answer.

If, like me, you have most of your money tied up in one stock, it's not overwhelming. You just have to know the previous earnings by quarters, the dates they were announced, etc.

Best Trading, X
