Voice com Update - Talk N' Play gets *panned* by CGW

Well it is obvious that this product isn't even going to recoup development expenses at this point, but it is fun to see how badly they continue to do.

The latest is Computer Gaming World, which in a feature, reviewed BattleCom, Talk N' Play, and Roger Wilco with extensive testing.

The verdict for Talk N' Play from this June CGW(pages 91-92)?

2 out of 5 stars!!!!

They did like the sound quality *outside* of games, but that's about it. About the community link that Thrustmaster blabs on and on about? "the PeopleLink application proved to be awkward at times, kind of like a poor man's ICQ."
Quality? "We also found that TNP fared the worst of the three packages for game for game compatibility"
"It turned out that neither mode[DirectSound or Wave] allowed TNP to function alongside our test games"
"...it appears that they didn't do much play-testing with audio-intensive games before shipping the product. The result is substandard game compatibility, which, coupled with TNP's somewhat clumsy user interface, keeps Talk N' Play out of the winner's circle"

Their only two pros besides audio quality was: good headset, and "large built-in community" And we all know that they didn't check out that last thing thoroughly, mistaking PeopleLink for actual users (or more likely they just didn't make it clear in their review)!

And guess what? That "clumsy user interface" is the only thing that is propretary to Thrustmaster.

BUWAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

How did the others fair? Well BattleCom got Editor's Choice (4.5 out of 5.0) and Roger Wilco was very positive, but not rated as still only preview version. (On a side note, this means BattleCom is hitting the shelves shortly). Roger was better for simplicity, and BattleCom for features in short. On their side bars, they pretty much dismissed Talk N' Play as an option.

Just to give you an idea, they describe their two star ratings for games as:
"WEAK - Seriously lacking in play value, poorly conceived, or just another clone"

Now we should note in particular that THIS IS THE MAGAZINE THAT THEY TOUTED AS "CO MARKETING" THE PRODUCT FOR THEM!!!!

Similar to how Chumbo was touted yet THEY DON'T KNOW WHERE iCONFERENCE IS EITHER!!!

How many little white lies will they continue to tell???

Roger Wilco passed 100,000 downloads by now, BTW.

I am sure iConference will be well received as well! That is, if they ever get it out.
