Rod, I read your discussion of K6 as a poor choice for servers and
I couldn't agree more. May I add what I think is the biggest reason of all. That is the older x86 bus archeticure used in the socket 7 is hopelessly outclassed by the newer PentiumPro transaction based bus archeticure. You are probably familiar with this. There is absolutly
no way that a multi processor socket 7 based system can hope to compete witha P6 based multi processor system. The differences in
bus performance are so great that no system vendor is going to waste
their time designing in a socket 7 SMP system.
