You are suggesting that companies be insulated from competition. This is a mistaken notion and it is exactly this which created all the communications mess we have. No one's investment should be protected. You miss the point of risk. Risk is there to force you to be good, so the possibility of investment loss must be retained. This doesn't diminish the degree of effort to make something happen. Before the interventionism rampant in the protectionist 20th century, companies risked and won or lost, but the result was rapid development not matched during most of the 20th century when both public and corporations felt they needed protection from each each other.
