No it is not expansive to have banners up on other sites at least not on smaller sites. Perhaps some of the bigger sites like Yahoo it might be expansive. there are all kinds of ways to get listed that are not that costly. there are even companies that will list your site for you and the fee is not that high. I have my site listed with 100's of search engines. Jeff
