My neighbor's planted Hawthorne's in the front between the sidewalk and the street. I believe they will do well. Other neighbor's have planted oriental cherry trees ~ bad choice The virus that is going around will kill them. Neighbors further down the street planted lower growing variety of magnolia. Also, there are many varieties of Japanese maples in the area but they will not grow to a height of 90 to 100 feet. I like the tall spruce trees as long as they are in someone else's yard.

I have two Japanese maples. They hated direct sun and the summer heat. Now, they live in pots that sit underneath my ornamental cherry tree. They're content. We moved a gingko to the back. It thrives. Another gingko sits in a large pot. It's happy! If it survives the winter, we will make a bed for it early in the spring. At least, the gingkoes grow slowly.

Geez, I haven't had time to surf the net for weeks. During the day it is always stock market, stock market, stock market........
