I believe they use this slot approach for the same reason Intel did in PII, mainly because of the relatively high speed L2 cache which the motherboard/chipset vendor may not be able to handle properly. What I don't understand is that why don't they just put on-CHIP L2 in K7 right from the beginning ? They are doing it in K6-III, aren't they ? Gary
