Well, it could have become an emotional scar because it seemed so ugly to me. Instead I learned to be thankful for the extra years of life, wear skimpy bathing suits if I like, and don't give a damn. And because I don't give a damn, my lovers over the years haven't either.

As for the emotional and psychic scars, I find I can use them to hear other people's problems and hurts more clearly and help them with more than bromides. They know I've been in similar pain and survived so I can give them support and hope.

And I find the post immediately preceding this saddening.
