Sudan: Number of international companies show desire to invest in petroleum sector

Khartoum, June 6 (SUNA)-- Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mining Eng. Hassan Mohamed Ali Ettoum, announced that the accomplishments achieved so far in the Sudanese petroleum production project have attracted a number of prominent international oil companies to express their desire to invest in the country.

Addressing a number of Sudanese ambassadors-designates Sunday, Ettoum said that his ministry is working to complete the studies on promotion of the Sudanese oil projects which are due to begin by the end of the current year, besides acquainting with Port Sudan refinery rehabilitation project so as to improve its capacity to 70,000 barrels per day instead of 25,000 BPD at the present.

He explained that all arrangements have been completed for the exploitation of the Sudanese petroleum which represents one of the most important fields of investment in Sudan, pointing to the advanced technological capabilities and experience of the companies operating in the country.

He stressed the important role assumed by the Ministry of External Relations in attracting foreign investments via Sudan's embassies abroad toward utilization of the country's various potentialities. The ambassadors have praised the accomplishments of the Ministry of Energy and Mining in the oil production field.
