A little more research tells me that Lucent is a big player in DFBs. HP markets them, but I don't know if they make they OEM their diodes. My impression is that the Japanese have most of this market outside of Lucent. I don't know of any pure stock play in DFB lasers, or of any SDLI product in this niche. DFBs are very technology intensive to manufacture so tend to play into the strengths of well capitalized companies with large R&D budgets.
