ALRE and another co, SCOT, are two offshore reinsurers in the life insurance business. Have nothing to do with the spirals in the property casualty (e.g. worker's comp biz).

SCOT also offers variable annuities, to individuals...again these two companies have nothing to do with the workers' comp risk
