The reason I'm in TDFX at all is because I believe they will make the gaming market something bigger than what it already is. The company as a whole (with STB) can be profitable and show strong growth given the overall growth of the market. They can do an ATI style penetration given STB's prior success without the ultimate graphics. This protects me on the downside but this alone is not worth the volatility and risk of owning such a small cap stock. I'm in this stock swinging for the fences and TDFX has shown that they also have similar ambitions. If I wanted predictable strong growth, I'd buy Dell, MSFT, LU, etc., less risk for the same reward. P.S. I do own the above in my more conservative retirement portfolio.

If Intel was willing to spend money to purchase the technology, they should be hungry for a partnership.

3dfx tried this already. The only thing they got was a knife in the back. Intel isn't know for treating their partners very well.
