The date of this article was 4 June, 1999.

David Simon of the Twin Capital Management provides the following stock ideas on Wireless One (WIRL 3 3/4) and First Union (FTU 44 5/8). Below is the write up.

This column seldom comments on Bulletin Board stocks or stocks trading under $4 per share. In the following stock idea, an exception was made. David Simon of the Twin Capital Management is high on Wireless One, which is a wireless cable company located in the southeastern U.S. markets.

Wireless traded as low as $0.10 per share within the last 10 months on concerns of the future outlook for their business. They filed for bankruptcy, but " someone came in and gave them the financing to survive without foreclosure for the debt holders." MCI Worldcom recently confirmed to Wireless One that it purchased some of their secured notes and a significant (but unspecified) amount of the "Old Senior Notes."

He thinks their shares will trade over the $55 area...

MCI Worldcom recently said at their annual meeting that they plan on doing more acquisition in the wireless cable area. David adds, MCI Worldcom and Sprint have aggressively purchased companies in the space where Wireless One operates... "Wireless One is the most attractive one left." David thinks they will be acquired by a larger company in a deal that could be worth as much as $10 per share.
