Steven Malsin, thank you for your response. I would be happy to find out if CEL uses CDMA technology. Someone on the Yahoo chat boards said they did awhile back but I have no verification of that. I expect cellular technology to grow worldwide since the cost of entry to the system is remarkably less than laying lines. Mexico and the Latin American countries seem a natural for fast cellular growth. Thanks for the comments and looking forward to your confirmation on technology used by CEL. In the meantime, it seems that China will also adopt CDMA as the service of choice. Finally, I checked out Sprint PCS service versus AT&T's service offering in California. Sprint does not seem to offer any real cost savings and AT&T has a substantial free weekend minutes offer (1000 minutes a month) which is a great selling point. Sprint PCS should offer this also at comepetitive pricing if it expects to get converts. Anything to promote CDMA is helpful since I understand QCOM gets a royalty payment everytime a phone is sold. Also Qcom's phone offering for the Sprint PCS service is lacking (at least what I find at Circuit City and Office Depot), Qcom better offer a slicker phone if it expects to garner customers.
