Fixed wireless vs ADSL copper wire access:

I would appreciate comments on the following report with the understanding that one can get ADSL (>128kb/sec) for <$40/month. Does sub-T1 line offer something more than the ADSL access that justifies $500/month ?

Teligent Launches in Seattle
Vienna, VA-based fixed wireless company Teligent announced 6/8 the launch of high-bandwidth services in Seattle, marking the 28th major market where Teligent's local, long distance, high-speed data and Internet access services are available. (See table below for markets). Currently serving 2K customers in those markets, Teligent plans to reach a total of 40 markets and 10K customers by year-end.

Initially positioned as a competitive local exchange carrier, Teligent has recently pushed deeper into the integrated voice and data and high-speed markets. Teligent's system is based on small rooftop antennas that communicate with base stations which in turn route traffic to Teligent switches. Each antenna offers the equivalent of eight T1 lines, each of which can be split into smaller capacity pipelines for the delivery of sub-T1 high-speed services. The company currently offers 128 kbps Internet access for $500/mo., contrasted with T1 access, prices at $1,800/mo.
