bearshark,

Thank you for this post on Arm's Indicator.

I seem to be able to get entries for positions very well using the pitchfork, but selling has continued to require more work.

At what point after a trade is positioned do the signals presented suggest the move is over?

Sometimes I reach my target.....find a small pull back and then a continuation of the original trend. I hate giving back profits and usually sell. I also hate seeing the rebounds and the possibility of higher profits. (It's happening right now at 1326 spx) I need to find indicators that can help determine the power behind a reversal....so when the market reaches another fork tine I can tell if the goose is cooked or about to get out of the pot.

I'm working at developing a signal pattern that may allow for both day and position trading when keeping within the overall trend in the market. Volume appears significant part of that mixture.

I just finished reading "Trading Without Fear" by Richard Arms... Wiley 1996
It's about eliminating emotional decisions with Arms Trading Strategies. The book is almost entirely devoted to his personal Volume Studies.

In it he introduces newly developed Charting Indexes on Volume.
Equivolume Charting -- chart program replacing price with volume
Ease of movement -- New Index to measure volume for Equi-charts
Volume Adjusted Moving Averages -- adds volume to MA and added to Equi-charts
VAMA Cycles -- determining cycles with volume work he has done.

He also gets into a chapter of Long-Term Arms Index patterns.

I want something simple - straight forward and will eliminate most of the psychological confusion that wanders into most systems.

>>....we can have expectations and beliefs but we cannot turn them into an ideology. That is why I am neither a bear nor a bull.<<

I agree completely....
I want to trade...not monkey around with shadows. Be confident in the signals.....Determine over-all trend and Trade.
