Sure, he could have just read the upgrade, but instead he chose to "flesh out" the story with "background", only problem is he left out the most important (imo) aspect of the IBM denial. So yeah, there's a definite negative spin that he's getting from his "source". For example, he could have just as easily spun his story with the idea that RMBS has a huge short position and that things are getting so dicey for them that there was a false story reported last week about IBM "dropping" RMBS, only to be promptly denied by IBM. That would have been accurate, but I'm sure in their minds, it would be construed as "cheerleading" for RMBS. I believe that reporters in general like to take a "skeptical" view, which is fine, as long as they don't try to obscure the facts that do not comport with that view. bp
