Tom and thread,

It would be great to have a digital darkroom package at the retail level for the holidays. Last year I saw some bundles from Kodak and Lexar geared toward the uninitiated digital shutterbug. This year it would be nice to have a gift pack so that Janie can buy the DC 210 for good ol' Dad and Johnny can by the darkroom package.

In the package I would include an ImageMate, a PCMCIA adapter, a moderate sized memory card (16 or 32 MB), and a digital photography guide which includes such information as...

*FAQ about CF and MMC
*FAQ about ImageMate
*links to free web hosting sites like Photopoint.
*links to the Photowire printing service with a coupon for 3 free prints.
*trial software CD for a photographic slide show screen saver or instructions on how to configure your editing software (i.e. Adobe, PaintShopPro or Picture It!) to do this.
*a coupon for a subsequent CF purchase from SNDK
*mail in coupon for a free Egg Salad sandwich with Al Shugart's autograph on the cellophane.

I am sure that marketing can come up with some packaging ideas. I would make an all purpose box and then put on a holiday sleeve over the top that could be removed should any be left after the holiday.

I would do the same package for the mp3 market and call it Home Jukebox or something like that (sorry, that doesn't sound too extreme, Rex, does it?). I would include a larger capacity card, some FAQ information about various players that have adopted CF or MMC, trial software...
