Fifth U.S. LMDS Win

Tri Corners Telecommunications Selects Newbridge
LMDS Broadband Wireless Solution: Newbridge
Networks Announces Fifth U.S. LMDS Win

-- Dominates Broadband Wireless Access Market --

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 7, 1999-- Newbridge Networks (NYSE:NN - news; TSE:NNC - news) today
reaffirmed its dominance of the U.S. broadband wireless market by announcing that it has been selected as the strategic
networking vendor for the implementation of a local multipoint distribution service (LMDS) network by Tri Corners
Telecommunications.

Tri Corners is an emerging competitive telecommunications service provider and A and B spectrum LMDS license holder.
Full-scale services are scheduled to commence in December 1999.

LMDS, a high frequency broadband wireless system operating in the 28 Ghz spectrum, can be quickly deployed to
cost-effectively deliver data, Internet, voice, video and multimedia services using point-to-multipoint distribution systems.
The Newbridge® broadband wireless access solution for LMDS enables Tri Corners to enter the telecommunications
market quickly with a broad portfolio of premium quality services for business and residential customers.

''As a new competitive carrier, Tri Corners requires more than just proven technology,'' said Kelly Bloomer, chief executive
officer, Tri Corners Telecommunications. ''We selected Newbridge for our LMDS deployment because the Company
understands and supports our business case, helps us identify market opportunities and provides the fully managed,
end-to-end broadband multiservice solution that enables us to exploit opportunities ahead of our competition.''

The Newbridge broadband wireless system will enable Tri Corners to quickly and cost effectively deliver advanced
telecommunications services. Tri Corners is targeting its broadband LMDS offerings, including video conferencing and
premium quality Internet protocol (IP) services, at business and residential customers and government, medical and
educational institutions.

Tri Corners Telecommunications is the fifth LMDS licensee in the United States to select the Newbridge broadband wireless
solution, following announcements with Gateway Telecom, South Central Telcom, Home Telephone Inc. and Central Texas
Communications. Newbridge is also supplying LMDS networks to Canadian nationwide spectrum holder MaxLink
Communications Inc. and Korea Telecom,
the world's eighth-largest telecommunications company.

Newbridge also announced today that its LMDS solution has received the 1999 International Engineering Consortium (IEC)
InfoVision Award in the wireless category
. The Newbridge solution was selected based on its versatility, uniqueness, market
impact, customer benefits and value to society. The Newbridge asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) Radio Interface Card
(ARIC), an integral component of the Newbridge LMDS solution, received the IEC InfoVision Award in 1998. The solution
has also been recognized with the Data Communications magazine Hot Product Award.

''Newbridge provides progressive new carriers like Tri Corners with the business and technical support and innovative
financing they need to immediately target revenue generating opportunities,'' said Conrad Lewis, executive vice president,
Access Products Group, Newbridge Networks. ''The Newbridge LMDS solution delivers the flexibility and scalability that
emerging service providers require to incrementally expand their network infrastructures as their customer bases grow.''

The Newbridge solution comprises both base station and customer premise equipment. A base station, consisting of the
industry leading Siemens / Newbridge MainStreetXpress(tm) 36170 Multiservices Switch and point-to-multipoint
transmitters and receivers, is the central location that collects all traffic to and from customers within a given wireless
coverage area and is the linking point between the customer and the network backbone. Customer premise equipment
includes transceivers and network interface units (NIUs), which support a full range of services. The MainStreetXpress
46020 Network Manager will manage both the wireless and wireline portions of the Tri Corners network, providing a full
range of billing, statistics and maintenance support.
