That's right! Read that carefully. If you can't figure it out, it means every single game and Direct X application that will be developed from here on out will have built in BattleCom support. Every one. That's what I can a REAL press release Hausmann.

My favorite tid bit from this release is this:

Jay Torborg, director of graphics and multimedia in Microsoft's Consumer Windows® Division, announced the news in a keynote address this morning at the three-day conference, which is dedicated to Microsoft® DirectX® development and compatibility testing for hardware and software companies. More than 500 industry leaders from around the globe were present for the announcement.

How's that for getting your name out there?

When you combine this with the already announced inclusion of Net2Phone in Windows 2000, you basically have all your bases covered. I have suddenly found myself in the enviable position of shorting a company that is competing head on with MSFT in every possible manner!

BUAAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

And while I do an evil shorter dance as I look towards Thrustmaster's bleak future, I can help but to point out what I predicted a few days ago:

And you can bet your bottom dollar, that if it takes off, MS will include it as in integrated part of Windows, just like they did with IP, leaving all independent IP stack makers eating dirt.

Damn I am good! :-) BattleCom runs on H.323.

I wonder what the new Vice President of Strategic Planning will do about this? I can't wait to see what Hausmann tries to do to "paradigm shift" this disaster. Maybe if he had spent more money on R&D instead of pumping the stock and blathering about nothing?

Gee, I wonder if Chumbo will carry Windows 2000? Do you think MSFT will do a press release about it?
Or wait, Direct X ships with EVERY single gaming disk for EVERY single Windows gaming mag EVERYWHERE in the world. Perhaps they will press release that?
